Sumak Kawsay Cultural Educational Community is a non-profit association founded in November 2021 in Calca, in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cusco, Peru.
What began as a single family's livelihood in a difficult socio-economic context grew into a non-profit association that, in a community-led way, runs a school community committed to bringing together different social realities and adding a small contribution to better education for the children of the Sacred Valley.
In Peru, one third of students do not complete secondary education due to worrying challenges in educational quality and the access gap between urban and rural areas — perpetuating inequality and limiting young people's prospects.
